I went guitar shopping a couple days ago...Mom and Dad said they'd buy me one as an early Christmas present since Chris took both of his guitars back to school with him and I had just started taking lessons. SO, I've been on the hunt for a guitar now since Thursday. I went looking at the local store, found one I thought was great, an Ibanez cutaway (forgot to write down the number), but decided I should go pray about it before just having my Mom drop that much money...so I went home, got online, asked my guitar-playing guy friends what they thought about that guitar...one said, "those stink," the other said, "those are great." So NOW I am doing a little research of my own...GRRRRR.
Another problem I have, probably the biggest one, is that I can't decide between an electric and an acoustic. I love alot of alternative rock/poppish punk style music, like BarlowGirl, Everday Sunday, Paul Wright, and Sanctus Real...oh yeah, and I absolutely ADORE the guitars in Coldplay's music...an electric with a distortion pedal to play like that would just be AWESOME. I am totally in love with that particular sound.
But on the other hand, an acoustic is useful for playing worship music or just playing when I don't have the space to set up all the electric equipment. But really, maybe that seems like a minor problem.
I thought about getting an acoustic/electric...but AGGGH, I am SOOO confused. And as far as brands go, forget it, I am completely lost...although, about 5 people recommended Alvarez's to me...but that was for an acoustic, I'm not sure if that brand is good for electric. Well, if I don't give up looking, I should have one soon...I hope.
